Kazan–Qingdao: friendship across thousands of kilometers

Kazan schoolchildren host unique online tour for peers from our sister-city in China

On November 25, as part of developing international educational cooperation, an online meeting was held between pupils of the “Adymnar – the Path to Knowledge and Harmony” in Kazan and students of the Experimental School of Qingdao, People's Republic of China. The event became a vivid example of youth diplomacy and cultural dialogue in the digital age.

The young Kazan residents acted as virtual guides, introducing their Chinese peers to the thousand-year history, unique landmarks, and modern life of the capital of Tatarstan. A special feature of the meeting was live video connections fr om the Republic's leading cultural and scientific centers: the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan, the National Library, and the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication at Kazan Federal University. Qingdao students had a chance to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Kazan's history and academic environment in real time.

Schoolchildren from Qingdao presented their city – a dynamic metropolis on the coast of the Yellow Sea, wh ere German architecture from the early XXth century, modern infrastructure, and rich cultural heritage harmoniously blend.

“Such meetings are an important step towards mutual understanding between peoples. We see how our children learn to listen, respect, and take an interest in the lives of peers from another country”, emphasized the deputy directors of Adymnar-Kazan and the event organizers, Valentina Estis and Alsu Minsafina.

This meeting fostered the development of practical intercultural communication skills, broadened the worldview, and strengthened the values of openness and tolerance of the kids. The event demonstrated how modern technologies erase geographical boundaries turning the classroom into a platform for international dialogue.
