      Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure is one of the biggest parks in Kazan.

      This ancient park occupies an area of about 1 hectare, and since the 18th century has been called Russian Switzerland. The park has a lot of sports grounds for mini-football, roller-skating and there is also an open air gym. Various events are regularly held in this park.

      The Victory Memorial Park


      The park was founded back in the 1970s. Victory Park is a favorite place for residents and guests of Kazan, as the park has a large area where one can ride roller-skates and bikes, hike, sit by the pond, take pictures near the legendary military equipment.

      Millennium Park of Kazan


      The picturesque Millennium Park is located in the center of Kazan, near the northern shore of the Kaban Lake.  Park alleys converge in the center, where a fountain with a diameter of 36 meters is installed on an elevated platform. The main element of the fountain is a bowl in the form of a cauldron.

      Lyadsky garden


      The appearance of the Lyadsky Garden dates back to the 18th century, when General Letskoy settled on this land. The general built a modest one-story wooden house, and the rest of the territory was given over to the garden. The park itself is a piece of pine forest that once covered this area.

      The Uritsky Park


      There are sports grounds, a tennis court, a children's playground, and a lake where you can feed ducks. A narrow canal leaves fr om the lake, and openwork bridges are thrown through this canal. There is a tradition associated with the bridges: newlyweds hang locks with their names on them and throw the key into the water in the hope that the marriage will be strong and happy.

      Gorkinsko-Ometyevskiy Forest

      Kaleidoscope Children's Park


      Kaleidoscope Children's Park is suitable for children and teenagers. There is a football field with a soft surface for teenagers. For children - attractions, slides, swings and a labyrinth. Guests can buy cotton candy in the park. The park is perfect for quiet walks during the daylight, and also in the dark, due to the beautiful lighting.

      Fuchs Garden

      A quiet park in the city center is located at the entrance to the National Cultural Center Kazan.  Since the 19th century, there has been a monument to the former rector of Kazan University Karl Fuchs. The garden is located on the hill of the left side of Kazanka Lake.

  • Museums and cultural exhibitions center of Kazan
    • National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan

      The National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan is based on the private collection of Andrei Fedorovich Likhachev (1832-90), well-known archaeologist, historian, collector; and the exhibits of the 1890 scientific and industrial exhibition. On the third floor of the museum there are scientific, literary and musical exhibits related to the history and development of Tatarstan. Here you can see the carriage of Catherine II, on which she drove around the city during her visit to Kazan, and the exhibit of the Tatar philosopher Shigabutdin Mardjani.

      The Hermitage-Kazan Exhibition Center

      The Hermitage-Kazan Center is a branch of the State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg). There are exhibited works of painting, graphics, arts and crafts, historical and cultural collections. At theme exhibitions, that replaced every six months, one can see exhibits fr om the collection of one of the largest museums in the world without leaving Kazan.

      The State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan

      One of the largest art collections in Russia was created in 1958 on the basis of the picture gallery of the State Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan. The exposition of the museum includes 25 thousand paintings, graphics, sculptures, arts, and crafts. The museum is located in the beautiful mansion of the beginning of the XX century - the former residence of commander of the Kazan military district General Sandetsky. The mansion was built in 1906 by the architect Ferdinand Amlong, appearance and interior decoration are very impressive.

      Museum of Soviet Life

      National Art Gallery Khazine in the Kazan Kremlin

      For visitors the National Art Gallery Hazine was opened in 2005. Currently, the permanent exhibition presents works of arts and crafts, paintings, drawings, sculptures created by artists of Kazan, the Kazan province, the Republic of Tatarstan in the 19th – 21st centuries. Here you can also find works of Soviet fine art. Artworks demonstrate not only the diversity of life in our region - nature in landscapes and epoch-making events in historical canvases, everyday life in paintings of the domestic genre - but also a striking individuality of creative manners, a difference in stylistic preferences: fr om realism to avant-garde.

      Gallery of Modern Art

      Today, the State Museum of Art is the largest exhibition venue in Kazan specializing in contemporary art. Spectators are provided with three floors and six exhibition spaces, a lecture hall, a children's art platform, more than one and a half thousand square meters multimedia.

      The gallery runs the Center for time travel project (the project in the format of "augmented reality"): Historical reality by modern means. The Center for Time Movement is the latest project representing modern technologies and art projects, real historical objects and artifacts that make it possible to take part in historical events, to see and experience achievements and technologies lost in time.

      Konstantin Vasiliev Museum

      To date, the Kazan Museum of Konstantin Vasiliev presents complete collection of Konstantin Vasiliev genuine works. By June 2013, the artist’s sister Valentina Alekseevna donated more than fifty of her paintings to the museum.

      The exhibition area of ​​the new museum made it possible to accommodate not only 160 works by K. Vasiliev, but also an archive, library, storage facility, and a corner with the artist’s personal belongings. The creative heritage of the artist Konstantin Alekseevich Vasiliev (1942-1976) totals more than 400 works of painting and graphics: portraits, landscapes, paintings of the epic, mythological and battle genres, surreal and abstract compositions. Among the well-known works are the cycle “Epic Russia”, a series of paintings about the Great Patriotic War, a series on the “Ring of the Nibelung”, graphic portraits of composers, such famous paintings as “Waiting”, “Northern Eagle”, “Swans”, “Autumn”, “At the Well” (“At the Window”), “Votan (One)”, “A Man with an Owl” and many others.

      Tea Museum

      The exposition presents copies of properties of the 19th century fr om China, as well as the work of unknown Tatar masters. They were provided by the Institute of Archeology at the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan. Also, many exhibits gathered diligently throughout the year (fr om family heirlooms to private collectors). This is the museum where you can not only watch and listen, but also taste things. Guests are offered a tasting of English, Chinese, Tatar teas on the porch of the mansion. The museum is located in the estate of merchants Kushaevs. The estate was built in 1856, and since 2013 the KamaStroyInvest company has been reconstructing and restoring the family nest.

      Samovar Museum

      The museum’s collection contains about 120 samovars in total, and the owner of the museum can tell a story about each of them. The museum presents samovars of various shapes and sizes, huge, on several buckets and the smallest, coal, heat and electric, antique and stamped, fr om the times of the Soviet Union.

      The museum is named after the great Tatar poet, who made an unparalleled contribution to the Tatar literature and language.

      There are several statues, square, street and an underground station named after a poet in Kazan. A poet passed away in his early years but left a huge heritage. It spans his personal belongings, lifetime publications and photographs. All of these items were elaborately assembled for exposure. Museum first opened its doors in 1986 on the centenary of the poet in “House of Shamil” one of the most beautiful architectural places of Old Tatar Settlement. Divided into four thematic rooms the exposition contains more than 1000 storage units. The museum is located on Gabdulla Tukay Street, which is quite natural.  Here, each lane preserves the memory of the poet.

    • The Memorial Museum of the academicians Alexander and Boris Arbuzov`s

      The wooden private residence and adjoining garden were built in the early 20th century. The residence is situated in the old center of Kazan.
      The founder of chemistry of organophosphorus compounds Alexander E. Arbuzov (1877-1968) lived here fr om 1916 to 1968. The family of his senior son well known chemist Boris A. Arbuzov (1903-1991) also lived here until 1955.
      Uniqueness of the museum is that the interiors of all rooms are kept untouched fr om Arbuzovs time. The furniture, library, pictures painted by A.E.Arbuzov, snapshots, manuscripts of scientific papers and lectures, correspondence of the scientists with relatives, colleagues etc., vividly represent the time in which Arbuzovs family lived, and help to imagine the remarkable people in their domestic atmosphere.
      For viewing three memorial rooms (a drawing room, a dining room, a bedroom), a verandah and decorative little garden are intended. There are also another two rooms in which additional expositions are placed. One of these expositions is devoted to Alexander Arbuzov and another – to Boris Arbuzov. The museum was opened for visitors in 1971.

    • Musa Dzhalil's ApartmentMuseum

      The literary and memorial museum was developed in the apartment wh ere the famous poet, Hero of the Soviet Union, Musa Jalil lived. The museum keeps items related to the life of the Tatar poet. Five years of his life was tightly connected to Kazan. Here he studied, released his first poetry collection, and often came back to see friends after departure. His highest creative activity belongs to the Kazan pre-war years (1939-1941). The poet's life ended in Berlin in 1944, wh ere he was executed for liberal and anti-fascist movements. The ambiance of the pre-war 40s is restored in museum rooms. There is also a literary and musical salon named “Poetry, Love and War” which spans poet’s biography.

    • Vasily Aksenov's House Museum

      Vasily Aksenov's House Museum is located in an old mansion in the center of the city on Karl Marx Street wh ere the writer lived among a family of relatives after his parents’ arrest. The museum's concept with a literary jazz club and a small auditorium was invented by Aksenov himself who was a great fan of jazz. The museum's creators hoped that it would become a meeting place for creative people of Kazan. Every month, poetry evenings are held here, and every year, it hosts the literary-music festival "Aksenov-fest", which attracts famous Russian musicians, poets and writers. Museum offers a great range of writers personal belongings such as household items, books, archives photographs and other precious documents belonged to him and his family.

      Nazib Zhiganov’s House Museum

      Nazib Zhiganov (1911-1988) is a composer, a hero of Socialist Labor, People's Artist of the USSR, a laureate of the three State Prizes of the USSR, a laureate of the Republican Prize named after G. Tukay, a founder of the Kazan State Conservatory, and its rector fr om 1945 till 1988.

      In the house wh ere the museum is situated, N. Zhiganov spent the last 17 years of his life. Furnishing, the world of things, which surrounded the composer, create the unique ambiance, in which he lived and composed. Most valuable part is the archive - a unique collection of documents of 20-ies - 80-ies of XX century. These are personal documents, manuscripts, books with notes made by the composer himself, and inscriptions of literature and art figures, as well as reminiscences of contemporaries, photos, autographs of prominent cultural figures.

      Epistolary archive consists of several hundred documents, including letters of Dmitry Shostakovich, A. Khachaturian, T. Khrennikov, R. Shchedrin, B. Pokrovsky, N. Rakhlina, Litinskii etc. The preservation of the archives became possible due to the composer's wife, N.I. Zhiganova

      Sharif Kamal’s House Museum

      Sharif Kamal (1884-1942) is a prominent writer, classic of the Tatar Soviet literature, public man. The museum was opened in 1950 in the apartment wh ere he lived with his family between 1927 and 1942.The present-existing exposition was opened in 1980. A memorial apartment of the writer was reconstructed. The museum is based on the memorial collection of Sharif Kamal., handed to the museum by the daughter of the tatar writer .The museum occupies a part of the former private merchant residence of the end of the XIX the beginning of the XX century. In the exposition personal things of the writer, photos and some documents, reflecting the basic events of his life, literary and public activity, and also edition of his works are submitted. A grand piano, bought by Sharif Kamal in 1938, is interesting, because some well-known tatar musicians used to play it, among them was Salyh Saydashev - the founder of tatar professional music.

      Salikh Saidashev’s House Museum

      Salikh Saidashev is an outstanding Tatar composer, founder of the Tatar professional music, educator, and people’s artist of TASSR. It is considered to be the creator of a new Tatar national art music drama. Saidashev is one of the first Tatar professional conductors, pianist, and author of music for performances of Tatar State Academic theater named after G. Kamal.

      The museum was opened on 25-th of June, 1993. It is located in a two storyed building, which was built in 1904 by the architect F. F. Llonga and is a historical monument. It represents a farmyard outbuilding included once in the complex of buildings of the club of Society of employees in government and public institutions, popularly known under the name of "new" or "officer" of the club (the Theatre of Drama and Comedy named after K. Tinchurin).

      The museum has exhibition halls and a music room, wh ere meetings and musical evenings are held. The exposition of the museum tells the story of the S. Saidashev as the successor of rich centuries-old traditions of the Tatar musical culture, and at the same time, the innovation of his work, which consists in connecting talented national folklore traditions with the experience of European classical music. In the fund of museum there are pictures of S. Saidashev, record, audio and videotapes, sheet music, musical instruments, household items. Original artistic solution of the exposition helps the visitor to understand the era, the stages of the biography and the most striking artistic achievements of the composer.

      Vladimir Lenin’s memorial house is one of the oldest Kazan museums and was opened on November 7, 1937 to the 20th anniversary of the October Revolution in the wing of the Orlovs' house, built in 1880-ies.The museum is located in the central historical part of the city. It is a typical example of the wooden urban estate of the second half of the XIX century. Family lived in this house only 9 months, but this period became an important step of shaping his political views. Exhibition of the Lenin house-museum includes memorial things, illustrative and documentary material, photographs, and books, revealing Ulyanov's biography and biography of his family and giving an idea of Kazan of the end of the XIX century. Memorial home furnishings are reconstituted in six rooms, which were occupied by the Ulyanovs' family.

    • The Kazan Zoological and Botanical Garden

      The Kazan Zoological and Botanical Garden was founded initially as a botanical garden at Kazan University in 1806 by professor Carl Fuchs and considered to be one of the oldest garden in Europe today.

      Currently there are more than 160 species of animals in the zoo collection, more than 4000 species of the animals. 25 species of this list are included in the International Red Book, 15 species of the animals and 11 species of the plants are included in the Russian Red Data Book. There are more than 1000 species of plants, about 6000 specimens in the botanical collection.

      History of Kazan Circus could be traced back up than 100 years. The first project of circus sprang to life in 1890 by the Nikitin’s brothers. The circus building was located in the Black lake Park. Oleg Popov came on tour to Kazan in the 1950s.

      At the Central Aeroclub of the Republic of Tatarstan, one can take a plane ride, go skydiving, or even learn the art of piloting at one of their two airfields – Kurkachi and Baltasi. There’s also a cafe and even a place to stay for those dedicated to making the most of the aeroclub. In summer, the flying club hosts the Russian Championship in gliding and parachuting, and also runs training programs for gliders and skydivers. Members of the flying club sometimes go on to become Masters of Sports and win championships.

      You can jump with a parachute at the age of 14 and fly on planes since the age of 16.

      Recently built 65-meters high Ferris Wheel is located near the “Riviera” aquapark. This Ferris Wheel has 36 booths and each represent one country. Both inside and outside the booths have an authentic elements of each country. Moreover you can listen to the music of the country. The booths are heated in winter, whereas in summer the air conditioning is available.

      It is open on weekdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 23 p.m. and on Saturdays until the midnight.

      Two planforms wh ere you can see the city from a bird's eye view are both located in the Kremlin’s territory. These are viewing platform near the Syuyumbike tower (found in the left side, as you are watching right at the tower’s gate). Second observation deck is situated right behind the Cathedral of the Annunciation. There are excellent views of the Agricultural Palace out there, wh ere selfie-fans hang out, as well as the opposite of the Kazanka riverbank.

      The observation deck of the Kazan Family Centre

      The Kazan family center is the main Wedding Palace in Kazan and in Republic. This is one of the main modern attractions of the city as its name “Kazan” intentionally equal city name and was built in the shape of a huge boiler (kazan). There is an observation deck on the roof of this construction with the view on Kazan Kremlin, the Kremlin embankment and its vicinity. It was opened on July 5, 2013.

      Although the observation deck on top of the Epiphany Cathedral bell tower has been opened recently, it has already become a “must see” point among the tourists. On the pedestrian Bauman street, there is a place wh ere opens up an incredible view of the central part of Kazan. This is an observation deck on the bell tower of the Epiphany Cathedral, the tallest ancient building in the city stands 74 meters tall.

      Residential building of the early 20th century.

      The house remembers many of the tipping points of the twentieth century. Despite the passion raging in and out the house survived. House was not even equipped with sewage and water with arrive of the 21th century. And then came "Tom Sawyer Fest".

      The project to renovate the facades of the house was based on the diploma project of the KGASU student Aysylu Yusupova.

      Restored in 2019.

      2. Kalinin st., 4

      House of Nikolai Troitsky.  Beginning of the 20th century.

      Kalinin Street used to be called Third Mountain Street.  It was a miracle that Third Mountain remained intact after the fires of the 19th century. However, year by year, fewer wooden houses remained on this street.

      Residents called their house «Knocked out Tooth » as it is one of the rare survivors in this quarter.  Forged and wooden porches still remained inact.

      The repair works of the TSF movement included porches, an annex with a staircase to the second floor, blind areas and drips.

      Peltsam Residential building. Beginning of the 20th century.

      Volkov Street used to be called Second Mountain Street. Most of the wooden houses survive on this street. It was possible due to the owners care.

      Before the revolution house belonged to Immanuel Peltsam, a biologist and ichthyologist at Kazan Imperial University, the curator of scientific and industrial museum of the city. Today the family of Alexei Prokopchik lives in the house. His ancestors moved to Kazan in the 1930s, and Alexei’s great-grand grandfather headed the Agricultural Bank.

      In the 1970s this house was known in Kazan as an orphanage for leopards, pumas and lions. Residents of the house took over the animals when difficult time for the zoo came. The grown-up animals were transferred to the circus of the Zapashnyh and Bagdasarovs.

      Raspopova's house. Beginning of the 20th century.

      Home ownership №31 on the Second Mountain street (now Volkov Street 29) belonged to the wife of the head of the 7th section of the land management commission Alexandra Raspopova.

      The house stands alone among the new multi-storey buildings of the 2000s, yet before the whole Volkova street consisted of residential wooden houses. Thanks to the care of its residents house remains in an excellent condition.

      House of the Bogorodsky family. Built in the late 19th century.

      Prior to 2019, historians believed it to be the house of Vinogradova. But an elaborate search in the archives led to the possible assumption that this house was the main property of Professor Bogorodsky.  The next, 42nd house was an individual wing of a main house.

      The openwork forged visor was lopsided, and in some places decorative elements were lost. Blacksmith volunteers restored forge.

      House of professor of chemistry Alexei Bogorodsky. Beginning of the 20th century. Monument of a wooden architecture.

      "Kazan chalet" is preserved on Volkov Street. It impresses with the plasticity of the facades and unusual modern decor.

      The inhabitants of the house are direct descendants of the professor. Thanks to their efforts the house survived and was included in the list of monuments.

      The grey color of its facades seemed unchanged. Yet, in the process of research TSF restorers found out the house was painted in the rich colors of natural wood one century ago.

      7. Volkov st., 66

      House of Berland-Philipson. Beginning of the 20th century.

      In 1900, this house was built by non-commissioned officer Grigory Berland. And in 1910, hereditary Phillipson nobles acquired property ownership.

      Volkov and Lesgaft street houses shape a corner of the streets and show the passer-byers the face of pre-revolutionary Kazan. The building's windows are made in classical traditions of deaf volume carving. The wooden fence between these houses has been reconstructed and painted.

      Philipson House. Beginning of the 20th century.

      Before the revolution this house belonged to the same owners as the house at Volkov street, 66.

      The largest number of wooden houses remained around this quarter during the demolition of dilapidated housing process in the 2000s.

      The project of this house was made by students of Kazan Architectural University.

      Restored in 2017.

      The residential building from the late 19th century.

      Many citizens of Kazan were worried about house`s fate. It seemed like it was about to collapse.

      As it often happens, the inhabitants of this house could not find a common language to make global repair works for the house together. Tom Sawyer Fest served as a catalyst for procedure. The residents managed to come to an agreement and raise funds to completely replace the collapsing annex.  At last Tom Sawyer movement's architects made the final project of the annex.

      Lebedev family house

      It is the case when the property owners fought for their house. During the demolition of the dilapidated housing in the historical center the owners proved the reliability of the house. They protected it from arsons, refused to be evicted, and defended the house wh ere their ancestors lived. It was difficult for the owners to restore some of the carving details and paint the whole house on their own.

      House of Augusta  Zante. Beginning of the 20th century.

      The house with elements of Art Nouveau has attracted the attention of activists of the Monument Protection Society for a long time. Residents of this house are one of those heroes of old Kazan who guarded their houses from the dilapidated housing program and refused to move to new buildings.

      Since high-rise buildings were built next to the house, the courtyard and annex with a staircase to the second floor were in flooded lowland zone during rainfall period. Tom Sawyer Fest partners solved the problem by reconstructing the annex on a high foundation.

      Pechnikov's house. Architectural monument

      House number 16 on Pervaya Gora st. (First Mountain st.) – that was the name of this street before). Here in 1912, the doctor Nikolai Pechnikov built a new house.

      Since 2018 it is identified object of cultural heritage.

      This is the first house of Tom Sawyer Fest in Kazan.
      The fact that it gave a start for the festival is not accidental. It is a house with unique elements of architecture wh ere its caring owners live - the descendants of those who lived here before the revolution.

      The House of Shaikhutdin Fayzullin, the beginning of the 20th century.

      There are so few historic residential buildings on the modern Tukay street that this one-story house with a garden and a firewall attracts particular attention.

      The coordination of repair work of Tom Sawyer Fest movement was led by activists of the Tatar Youth Forum.

      Residential building of the merchant Zalyushev, end of the 19th century.

      In fact, this is the wing of a merchant's house built in 1885. It was built by tatar merchant who was a benefactor in Burnai mosque.

      15. Fatykh Karim st., 11

      House of Nikolai Berkutov, beginning of the 20th century. Monument of Wooden Architecture.

      The house is located on Yunusov Square in the heart of the Old Tatar Settlement. The house was gutted as it was deprived of its original decor with a rich attic - gables and balustrades.

      At the beginning of the 20th century, doctor Nikolai Berkutov became famous for not taking money from the poor for an appointment. The doctor lived in one part of the house, in another part he took patients. The descendants of Berkutov stll live in that house.

      Residents recall that until the 2000s there were many wooden houses around. They managed to protect the house from demolition. They love the family nest and cherish it.

      The return of the modern decor to the roof and the restoration of the facades have become a real celebration for everyone.

    • The Kul Sharif Mosque




      Since 2005 Kul Sharif is the main mosque of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan. It is located on the territory of the Kazan Kremlin. Kul Sharif mosque is located in a western part of the Kazan Kremlin. The capacity of the mosque is over 1,500 people and another ten thousand people can be accommodated in the square in front of the mosque. The height of each of the four main minarets is 58 meters. There are two viewing balconies for tourists inside of the mosque. The complex of the mosque includes the building itself, a museum of the history of Islam, a room for the solemn wedding ceremony, imam room. The building and the vicinity have a spectacular night architectural illumination. There are also gift editions of the Koran in different languages which visitors can get in the mosque.

      The Al-Mardjani Mosque

      This is the mosque in the Old Tatar Settlement of Kazan. The mosque is the historical and iconic embodiment of the start of multi-confessional tolerance society in Russia, proclaimed by Empress Catherine II at the end of the XVIII century. It was also the largest mosque in Kazan for more than two centuries and remains as the historical center of the Muslim spirituality in Tatarstan. The building is designed in the traditions of the Tatar medieval architecture of mosques with a minaret on the roof comprising the provincial baroque style form. The two-store mosque has a three-tiered minaret. In the design of facades and interiors, the architectural decor of the St. Petersburg Baroque is combined with ornamental motifs of Tatar decorative art.

      Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral

      Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral is one of the most valuable architectural monument and one of the spiritual symbols of Kazan. Built on an elevated place, beautiful and majestic, the cathedral has a unique decoration. The composition of the church and bell tower is made in the style of the so-called Russian or Naryshkinsky baroque, which is widespread in Russia in the late XVII - first half of the XVIII century. The unique appearance of the cathedral is famous by the bright colors and an abundance of facade details which is preserved to our times. Now the Peter and Paul Cathedral has the status of a cathedral church, and is certainly one of the centers of the Kazan spiritual life. Regular church services and diocesan celebrations are held here.

      The Annunciation Cathedral of the Kazan Kremlin

      The Annunciation Cathedral of Kazan Kremlin is the oldest surviving historical and architectural monument in Kazan.       Ioanno-Predtechensky Monastery

      The monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church is located opposite to the Spassky Tower of the Kazan Kremlin. Until 1917 church was named after the Ivanovskaya Monastery (now May 1 Square). Symmetrical in relation to the descent from the square, the 47-meter tent of the Spasskaya Tower and three-meter 45-meter-high Ioanno-Predtechensky Cathedral of the monastery (destroyed in the 1930s) were a unique architectural ensemble.

      Svyato-Uspensky Zilantov Convent

      The oldest surviving monastery of the Volga region founded by Ivan the Terrible on the day and year of the capture of Kazan on October 15, 1552 for the eternal commemoration of the fallen soldiers. The history of the monastery is rich for events of national importance, connected with the name of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, rulers and many noble families of the city of Kazan. It is located in the Kirov district of the Kazan, far from the city noise. Its golden domes are visible from everywhere. It existed until 1918. During the Soviet period, the monastery housed a children's colony, warehouses of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and communal services. Since 1998, it began to revive as a nunnery. The monastery in terms of the composition of the monks has always been small, and is also scarce at the present time. The monastery is the dormitory with the daily committing of a full daily circle of services.

      An architectural complex in the village of Staroye Arakchino, which is part of the city of Kazan. Construction was started in 1994 by the artist, architect, sculptor, healer and public figure Ildar Khanov. According to the author and the owner of the complex, it was built as an architectural symbol of religions, cultures and civilizations. Services and rituals are not held in the complex. The ensemble adjoins an Orthodox Church, Moslem mosque, Jewish synagogue, and pagoda. In total, the project includes domes and other iconic elements of 16 religions, including religious cults of former civilizations. A concert hall, wh ere musical and poetic evenings are held, is open on Sundays.

      The Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery
